The Dyfed Chess Association is pleased to confirm the fixtures for the 2026–27 season. Four clubs contest the Dyfed League — Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, Cardigan and Pembrokeshire — while DAPA, the Dyfed All Play All U1500, returns for six evenings hosted around the county.
Every league match is four boards. The away team has White on Boards 1 and 3, and the champion is decided on game points, then match points, then the game points between tied teams.
The Iolo Jones Trophy
Alongside the main title, the Iolo Jones Trophy rewards the team whose players graded under 1700 score the most game points across the season. Eligibility is fixed at the time each game is played, so a later change to a player's grade never rewrites the historical totals.
DAPA (Dyfed All Play All U1500)
DAPA is a separate, friendly event for players with a Welsh grade under 1500 at the start of the half-season, and any number of players from each club can come along. It is purely individuals playing each other for experience: there is no league table, no club winner and no overall winner, and every result is sent off for Welsh grading. Normal FIDE Laws of Chess apply. The DAPA page has the details.
